Sobriety Hub Joins HHS/SAMHSA Pledge to Advance SUD Quality and Best Practices
It was an honor to be invited to attend and sign the National Behavioral Health Quality and Best Practices Voluntary Pledge on behalf of Sobriety Hub.
During the event we heard from HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, White House Senior Advisor for Addiction and Co-Chair of the Great American Recovery Kathryn Burgum, and CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz.
The purpose of the pledge is to advance evidence-based, high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals experiencing mental health conditions and the chronic disease of addiction.
Chronic disease management means that recovery must be measured post-discharge.
- Diabetes has A1C.
- Hypertension has blood pressure.
But addiction has no standardized, routinely collected outcome measure after a patient leaves treatment.
Recovery housing is critical because residents stay during the exact window when relapse risk is highest and clinical visibility is lowest. Sobriety Hub Software is the measurement infrastructure for that setting.
Therefore, our contribution to the pledge is our readiness to mobilize real-time recovery outcomes data spanning 1,600 recovery residences in more than 40 states. We have published the first of it: across 13,468 recovery residence stays, 73.6% of residents were sober at discharge, 73.9% left with stable housing.
That data should not sit in our database. It should reach ASPE, SAMHSA, and the researchers building the evidence base, so national policy can treat addiction like the chronic disease it is.
